The shop originally opened to serve a simple purpose: to give our Northern Michigan town a welcoming place for great coffee and connection. Over time, the business evolved, and so did the ownership. After my divorce, I made the decision to take over 222 Northern Brew and continue what had already become an important part of the local rhythm.
Today, 222 Northern Brew is woman-owned and independently operated, open seasonally to align with the flow of life in our town. While I’m not behind the counter day to day, I’m fully involved in shaping the vision, the menu, and the experience — ensuring every season we open, we do it with intention and care.
The name 222 represents balance, alignment, and trusting the path forward. Northern Brew reflects where we’re rooted and who we serve: locals, visitors, and weekend adventurers looking for a familiar stop and a good cup of coffee.
